Datapoint: Aetna Contests Oklahoma Medicaid Awards

CVS Health Corp.’s Aetna Better Health of Oklahoma is protesting its exclusion from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority’s recent Medicaid contract awards, alleging the process was legally unsound and violated open records laws. The state in January selected Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Centene Corp., Humana Inc. and UnitedHealthcare to serve its $2.1 billion managed care transformation, which is set to begin in October. Aetna currently serves 1,586,431 managed Medicaid and CHIP lives nationwide, with its largest markets in Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Virginia.
