Datapoint: Aetna to Re-Enter Exchanges in 2022

CVS Health Corp. CEO Karen Lynch told investors Aug. 4 that the company’s Aetna unit will re-enter the Affordable Care Act exchange markets for the 2022 plan year in eight states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. The plans will leverage CVS HealthHUB and MinuteClinic locations, offering no or low-cost visits and discounts on some health products. Aetna originally pulled out of the exchange markets in 2018. Centene Corp. is currently the exchange market leader, serving 1,892,490 members, or 14.9% of the market.
