Datapoint: AmeriHealth Caritas Expands Exchange Market

AmeriHealth Caritas last week said it will expand its Affordable Care Act exchange offerings to three new states; Delaware, Florida and South Carolina. The insurer, which is primarily known for its managed Medicaid plans, began offering exchange products for the first time in 2022, starting with North Carolina. The state has a competitive exchange market, led by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina with 370,000 members, and Bright Health with 149,000 members. Bright Health will exit the exchange markets entirely in 2023, giving AmeriHealth a potential advantage as it prepares to expand to new counties within the state next year.
