Datapoint: Bright Health to Acquire Central Health Plan of California

Startup insurer Bright Health is set to expand its California Medicare Advantage (MA) presence with its planned acquisition of Central Health Plan of California, Inc. Central Health Plan currently serves 42,990 MA members in California, including 3,700 Medicare-Medicaid dual eligibles. This is Bright Health’s second California acquisition — the insurer completed its purchase of Orange County-based MA plan Brand New Day in April 2020.
