Datapoint: CDPHP Opens First Retail Pharmacy

Albany, N.Y.-based Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) last week unveiled its first standalone retail pharmacy in Watervliet, New York. The physician-founded org said the need for a community pharmacy arose after several national retail chains left the area, and the new location will be one of the only local pharmacies that can provide free home delivery to customers. The pharmacy will accept all major insurers, not just CDPHP plans. CDPHP currently enrolls 389,596 members in New York, with 42.7% of members enrolled in commercial risk-based plans, and 30.6% enrolled in Medicaid.
