Datapoint: Cigna Introduces New Virtual Care Option

Cigna Healthcare is launching a new “E-Treatment” option through MDLIVE by Evernorth, making virtual care more accessible and convenient for customers who have coverage through the individual marketplace or via their employer. The service allows users to receive diagnoses and treatment plans for common, lower-risk conditions such as allergies, infections, and respiratory illnesses without direct interaction via phone or video. Customers can complete a virtual clinical interview through the MDLIVE portal and typically receive their diagnosis and treatment plan within an hour, often with a $0 copay. This initiative aims to provide quick, flexible access to urgent care, helping customers manage their health more effectively. Cigna currently serves 650,000 members via individual plans, 2.23 million in group risk-based products and 13.61 million in self-funded plans.
