Datapoint: CMS Approves Arizona’s SDOH-Focused Medicaid Waiver

CMS on Oct. 14 approved Arizona’s Section 1115 waiver demonstration to address social determinants of health like housing insecurity for Medicaid beneficiaries, following similar waiver approvals in Oregon and Massachusetts. The Arizona grant will allow the state to fund services that will keep Medicaid beneficiaries in stable housing and transition those experiencing homelessness, such as temporary housing placements and rent payments for up to six months. Arizona currently serves 2,269,349 Medicaid beneficiaries, with 87.2% enrolled in managed care plans.
