Datapoint: CMS Approves California Medicaid Transformation

The California Department of Health Care Services on Dec. 29 unveiled plans for the state’s upcoming Medicaid transformation, newly approved by CMS. California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, will shift toward more equitable care delivery. Reforms will include enhanced statewide community support programs, new dental benefits, increased integration for Medicare-Medicaid dual eligibles and a global payment program. More than 90% of California’s 12,809,310 Medicaid beneficiaries are currently enrolled in a Medi-Cal managed care plan.
