Datapoint: Elevance Health Rebrands Amerigroup as Wellpoint

Elevance Health is rebranding its Amerigroup subsidiary — which serves Medicare and Medicaid members — as Wellpoint, “to reflect the company’s evolution to support whole health,” according to a July 31 press release. The Wellpoint brand intends to serve public-sector beneficiaries “across their entire health journey,” emphasizing the intersection of physical health, behavioral health and the social factors that influence health outcomes. Amerigroup currently serves 3.54 million managed Medicaid lives, and about 9% of Elevance’s 2.02 million Medicare Advantage members.
