Datapoint: Elevance Launches Virtual-First Options in Georgia

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Georgia, a subsidiary of Elevance Health, is launching virtual-first health plans that offer consumers a more affordable coverage option that prioritizes virtual care. These plans will include $0 copays for virtual primary care and mental health visits via Anthem’s digital health platform, which Anthem says offers “seamless” interoperability and data sharing between providers. The plans will be available for full-risk and administrative services only (ASO) large group customers beginning in July 2023. Elevance is currently the largest insurer in Georgia, with 410,658 members enrolled in full-risk large group plans, and 2,100,190 enrolled in ASO plans. The insurer says they anticipate a nationwide virtual-first option for ASO customers in 2024.
