Datapoint: Elevance Strikes California Primary Care Deal

Elevance Health is partnering with Los Angeles county-based Astrana Health, an independent physician association, on a new primary care clinic initiative for underserved Anthem Blue Cross members in California, according to a press release from the insurer. Astrana clinics will offer walk-in visits, same-day telehealth and an online scheduling platform to Anthem Blue Cross members. “We chose Astrana Health to be our partner based on their care delivery team’s track record of delivering on quality, access, and patient experience,” Beth Anderson, president of Anthem Blue Cross’ commercial health plans, said in the release. “This collaboration with Astrana Health will address crucial health needs while ensuring our members receive top-tier care in their local community.” Elevance’s Anthem is the second-largest insurer in California, serving 7,281,269 members.
