Datapoint: Exchange Enrollment to Grow by 500,000 Lives During Special Enrollment Period

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra in an April 7 press release said more than 500,000 people newly signed up for health coverage through HealthCare.gov from February 15 to March 31, the first six weeks of a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) ordered by the Biden administration. This SEP will continue through May 15. CMS also said premiums are expected to drop by $50 per person per month as of April 1. According to the latest update to AIS’s Directory of Health Plans, 11,320,950 people are currently enrolled in the ACA exchanges.
