Datapoint: Florida to Rebid Medicaid Contracts

Florida last week issued a call for bids to serve the state’s Medicaid managed care program. This is only the second re-procurement since Florida launched its Medicaid managed care program in 2013, and the state is making several changes, including reducing its number of contract regions from 11 to 9. The state anticipates awarding contracts by December 2023, effective in January 2025. Florida currently enrolls 4,589,928 Medicaid beneficiaries in managed care plans, with Centene Corp., Elevance Health and Humana Inc. leading the pack at 1,855,376 lives, 864,631 lives and 805,047 lives, respectively.
