Datapoint: Health Care Service Corp. to Take on Major Medicare Expansion for 2022

Health Care Service Corp., the parent company of five regional Blue Cross and Blue Shield affiliates, will expand its Medicare Advantage (MA) offerings to 90 new counties for the 2022 plan year, according to an Aug. 10 press release. The company said the expansion is the largest in its history, and is focused on rural and underserved areas in its five state markets (Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas). HCSC currently serves 108,281 MA lives across its five payers.
