Datapoint: Louisiana Releases Medicaid RFP

Louisiana last week issued a request for proposals (RFP), inviting managed care organizations to bid on new contracts to serve the state’s Medicaid managed care program. More than 1.7 million people are currently enrolled in a Medicaid managed care plan in Louisiana, with Centene Corp. leading the pack at 31.1% market share. The state in January 2020 tossed its contract awards from the previous August, after the state procurement officer found flaws in the bidding process.
