Datapoint: Molina Plots More M&A Activity

Molina Healthcare CEO Joseph Zubretsky during a July 25 second-quarter earnings call said the company’s M&A pipeline won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Molina last month unveiled plans to acquire EmblemHealth’s ConnectiCare, and earlier this year completed its purchase of Bright Health’s Medicare Advantage assets. While these two deals aren’t Medicaid-focused, Zubretsky said future deals will likely be a return to form. “You’ll hopefully see Medicaid transactions here over the next 12 to 18 months,” he said, according to a transcript of the call from Seeking Alpha. “We’re still very active in that space. The last two we did were non-Medicaid, but that doesn’t mean we’re not actively pursuing them and working on them.” Molina is currently the fourth-largest Medicaid insurer in the U.S., serving 3,829,663 beneficiaries.
