Datapoint: South Dakota Lawmakers Mull Work Requirements

South Dakota legislators are looking to resurrect a Medicaid work requirement that failed in the state Senate last year, the Rapid City Journal reported. The provision would apply to nondisabled members of the state’s new Medicaid expansion population. Expansion was approved by ballot initiative in November 2022. Of South Dakota’s 123,775 Medicaid beneficiaries, 15,050 are currently enrolled in Medicaid expansion.
