Datapoint: Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield to Begin Offering MA Products in 2022

Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield in June unveiled plans to begin offering Medicare Advantage (MA) products in Iowa and South Dakota. The new MA org, Wellmark Advantage Health Plan, will begin offering products this fall for the 2022 plan year. Wellmark is one of the largest insurers in the Upper Midwest, enrolling 1,275,233 people in Iowa and South Dakota. 40.8% of Wellmark members are enrolled in risk-based commercial products.
