Datapoint: CareFirst to Enter Group MA Market

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, one of the largest insurers in the mid-Atlantic, last week said it will enter the group Medicare Advantage market for the 2022 plan year, offering PPO products in Maryland and Washington, D.C. CareFirst said it will also enter the Northern Virginia MA market via an alliance with Anthem, Inc. The insurer first entered the individual MA market in 2021, and currently enrolls 2,420 members. Overall, CareFirst covers 2,915,086 lives.
